July 7th, 2007 - BRAND NEW ALBUM + more

If you haven't already heard it, run... do not walk... to marknicholas.org to hear my new full-length album "Duchess 33"! I may not be calling myself Cosmicity anymore, but I just know you're still gonna love this music. In fact, most people like it even more than Cosmicity! And... after you've heard it.... if you've enjoyed it... why not buy it? It's on iTunes, CDBaby, A Different Drum, Metropolis, Amazon... basically anywhere cool music is sold.

But I hear you now... you're saying: "Mark... I'm too old or too lame to listen to anything new. I only like songs from before 2004. That's my cutoff. Do you have any news for me?" Oddly, I do. I'm currently working on a fun little EP called "Mark Nicholas VS. Cosmicity". It'll be me covering my old Cosmicity songs in my new style. Totally fun, right? I'll answer that since you can't respond: Yes. It will be. I promise. Cosmicity fans: be on the lookout for this one!

In sorta sad news, I've been in talks with A Different Drum, and it looks like many of the classic Cosmicity albums and singles will soon be dropped from their back catalog due to slow sales. (Hey, they're old!) The only albums guaranteed to remain are "Escape Pod For Two", "Resynthesized" and "Isabella". So, if there's another Cosmicity album you've been considering (like "Pure" or "Renaissance"), you many wanna snatch it up now. Physical copies may soon be forever sold-out. And there will be a period, probably in the fall of 2007, when these albums + singles won't even be for sale as downloads. But shortly thereafter, I intend to get them all reinstated on iTunes and other online stores via my new record label (Dirty Electronic).

That's it for now. As progress is made on the "Mark Nicholas VS Cosmicity" EP later this year, I'll be sure to post the news right here. Take care, everyone. And please don't forget to visit my current website at marknicholas.org for all the most current goings-on.

July 11th, 2006 - "Definitive" and "Isabella" - now on iTunes!

It's about time! Yay! Two AWESOME Cosmicty albums have finally made their way on to iTunes.

Just go here: http://cdbaby.com/cd/cosmicity05.

OTHER RECENT NEWS IN CASE YA WANNA CATCH UP...

May 26th, 2006 - Cosmicity on MYSPACE

Hey Cosmicity fans! Add Cosmicity to your friends on myspace.com! Check it out at: myspace.com/purecosmicity. I've got some free songs up there, as well as some video, which I will be updating very soon to include some additional "rare" material. :-)

Also, don't forget to stay tuned to the MARK NICHOLAS website. Huge developments will be taking place over the summer (really fun stuff), and the new album, "Duchess 33", will be released in fall!!!

January 12th, 2006 - Goings on.

Not TOO much going on with Cosmicity, seeing as how the band has been retired since '04 or so, but still a few things here and there. The "Definitive" album (best of CD with bonus DVD), originally released on KMA Records, will now be distributed by Section 44 Records. They bought out all KMA label releases, and that includes this one Cosmicity album. The bottom line is that this should mean nothing but good things, as I expect they will be more timely with their distribution through amazon.com, Metropolis, and A Different Drum etc., and they have promised to finally get this release up on iTunes asap. Hooray!

What else? Oh, a publishing company recently licensed the Cosmicity song "The Dreamer" for placement on TV shows. Hopefully I'll be notified whenever the song gets used, but if you happen to catch it in the background of one of your favorite shows, please drop me a line and let me know you heard it! :-) (If you don't know/have this song, it's available on iTunes. It was on the bonus disc included with the first 1000 copies of "Escape Pod For Two", and those songs and remixes are still for sale from Cosmicity !

I think that's about it. Be sure to stay tuned to marknicholas.org for all the latest with my new music. I've got a whole new album ("DUCHESS 33") coming out this summer, and you can already hear some of the new songs via my website and myspace page. :-)

November 11th, 2005 - Blog blog blog.

In addition to the website mentioned in the 6/20/05 entry below, you can keep up with my latest goings-on via MYSPACE. Samples of the new music are up there, as well as some blog entries where I babble about making more of said music. So, what are you waiting for? Check it out!

Also, if you're trying to fill up your iPod, or just track down some long-lost Cosmicity favorites, you can always get the songs quick and easy from Cosmicity ! (The "Isabella" album isn't on there yet, but just about everything else Cosmicity ever released IS.)

June 20th, 2005 - MARKNICHOLAS.ORG!

It's been a long time coming, and now it's outrageously official. The time of Cosmicity has passed. A new sound is born. Here it for yourself on at the new website marknicholas.org.

Just for fun... how many of these RARE Cosmicity tracks and remixes do you have?

"An Unbiased Observation of Human Interaction" from the Listen To The Future compilation.
"Pure Imagination" - a cover of the Willy Wonka classic from the Synthetic Broadway comp.
"Oblivion - Cosmicity Mix" - a remix of the Real Life song Oblivion, featured on their single.
"Now I Know - Continuum Transfuction Mix" - remix of the infamous Color Theory track.
"Nobody's Diary" - a cover of the Yaz/Yazoo classic.
"Synthgeek Superstar" - B-side from the Cosmicity "Defeat" CD single.
"I Want A Dog" - cover of the Pet Shop Boys song, featured on "Princess of Detroit" CD single.
"Halloween" - B-side from the "Too Far Gone" single
"Your Beautiful Lie - Red Sweater Mix" - from the "Visionary" single (used on the UPN TV show "Haunted")
"Nevermind HTTP" - remix of the Red Flag original, featured on "Who Are The Skulls?"
"The Dreamer" - original version found only on the "Electricity II" compilation.
Whew! I'm tired. That's enough for now. :-)

(PS - Most compilations can still be purchased from A Different Drum, and rare B-sides from out-of-print CD singles can often be purchased from the iTunes Music Store.)

March 23rd, 2005 - DEFINITIVE IS RELEASED!

At long last, it gives me tremendous pleasure to announce that the final Cosmicity release, "Definitive" (a best-of CD and DVD spanning 1997-2004) is now available! Order right now from either Kiss My Asterix Records or Metropolis, with additional online ordering options from amazon.com and adifferentdrum.com to become available next week. Also, expect to find this CD at your local independent music retailer very soon, as distribution through Metropolis is expected to reach much wider than previous Cosmicity releases have been able to get.

But wait! There's more! A Different Drum has just reissued the classic Cosmicity album "Isabella". Some of you have been waiting a very long time to get your paws on this 1997 romance-meets-synths-meets-jungle-drum-loops classic, and now you can! Order today from A Different Drum or amazon.com.

Last but not least... the original run of the 2003 Cosmicity album "Escape Pod For Two" has just sold out. If you want to get your hands on a copy of the album from that original run (it included a free bonus disc full of remixes), now is the time to panic! Your only hope is to search for a store that hopefully still has one in stock. I know that A Different Drum is now selling the second-run albums that do not include that bonus disc, as is amazon.com. If you're unsuccessful - all is not lost. You can still download all of those bonus disc remixes from the iTunes music store.

Synth on, my friends. And drop me a line at info@cosmicity.com if you have any questions. Anything at all. One guy wrote and asked me if I had any idea what ever happened to "New Coke". And you know what? I just happen to be privy to that type of information. (They took the flavor and used it to make the new Cola flavored Pez candy!) Go on... try me... ;-)

March 2nd, 2005 - Ever-so-slight delay...

My appologies to anyone eagerly awaiting a pre-order, but "Definitive" has been delayed at the manufacturer a few weeks. The new official release date is March 23rd. Sorry for any inconvenience, folks! It'll be worth the wait! (There's even a very cool distribution surprise that'll be announced very soon!)

January 25th, 2005 - Pre-order "Definitive" Today

It's true. You can pre-order Cosmicity's best-of CD "Definitive", which includes a free copy of the "2 Camcorders and an iMac" DVD, right this second. Just go to KISS MY ASTERIX RECORDS now!

Did I mention that if if you pre-order before February 1st, you get a free copy of the "Elektrocuted" compilation (synthpop bands covering popular heavy metal tunes - no, really, they did it) that will ship to you immediately? Free music to tide you over 'til your new Cosmicity stuff arrives. Nice.

January 14th, 2005 - See the DVD Trailer RIGHT NOW!

The "Definitive" CD/DVD release is only about 6 weeks away (pre-orders starting February 15th, OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE: March 1st), and the time has come for a sneak peak at the severely overhyped "2 Camcorders and an iMac" DVD! :-) You can view the Quicktime trailer right now by clicking HERE.

November 4th, 2004 - It's BACK! "Definitive" CD/DVD in Feb. 2005

Dear friends and Cosmicity fans:

It brings me great joy to report that the "Definitive" CD and "2 Camcorders and an iMac" DVD has been brought back to life and will now be released on California-based Kiss My Asterix Records in February of 2005! Both Cosmicity and KMA Records are very excited to bring you this project in its raw, unedited form. The street price is expected to be significantly under $20 for both the CD and the DVD, packaged together in a single slick jewel case.

Additional details and pre-order details will be released in January!

I'm uber psched about this developement. To me, it's simply synthtacular.

For the record, Cosmicity's relationship with A Different Drum Records remains strong, and all other Cosmicity albums will continue to be sold through them, including the soon-to-be-reissued 1997 Cosmictiy album "Isabella". Additionally, A Different Drum is expected to carry the upcoming "Definitive" CD/DVD package in their online retail store, so this is still a great place, along with other online retailers such as amazon.com, to shop for all of your Cosmicity needs. :-)

PS - Don't forget to keep an eye on the Mark Nicholas website. I'm posting new lyrics as I write them, and preview mp3s will be posted soon!

September 30th, 2004 - No Cosmicity Best-Of... For Now.

Dear friends and Cosmicity fans:

It saddens me to report that the "Definitive" CD and "2 Camcorders and an iMac" DVD will not be released in November as scheduled.

When my record label, A Different Drum, reviewed the DVD, they found content on there that was contrary to their strict religious beliefs. Though I believe the content is very mild-natured and generally inoffensive, (would be rated no higher than TV-14 or PG-13) A Different Drum disagreed. There were specific items that they did not feel comfortable putting their name on.

For example, a couple of people during the course of the documentary utter "goddammit". A Different Drum believes that by saying this, people are take the Lord's name in vain. I was asked to bleep or remove these instances, and indeed several other entire scenes that were contrary to A.D.D.'s religious beliefs, but I refused to censor this content. I strongly believe that one of the major strengths of the DVD, and indeed Cosmicity, is that it's 100% real. Releasing this documentary with such censorship would be contrary to my entire vision, and would result in an unworthy and incomplete product.

This is a tough pill for me to swallow. I put a great deal of time and effort into this DVD, as well as the best-of CD (right down to finishing the artwork and liner notes), and I was really looking forward to sharing it with all of you.

So, good friends, until such time as a different record label steps forward who would like to release this package uncensored, it will not be available for purchase. Again, I'm VERY sorry about this.

But instead of spending a lot of time mourning this situation, I'm seizing this turn of events as a chance to truly step away from Cosmicity and become even more focused on my new sound and direction. Expect great things to be appearing on http://www.marknicholas.org over the next few months. And expect great things from my 2005 release. It will not be censored. It can not be stopped. :-)

PS - If no label should step forward with a reasonable proposal to release "Definitive" and "2 Camcorders and an iMac", I will somehow find a way to make these items available as fan-only special orders. If you stay tuned to the Cosmicity website (or better yet, subscribe to the mailing list), you'll be made aware of this offer if it comes to pass.

September 9th, 2004 - "Definitive" CD + DVD Documentary!

As promised, a best-of Cosmicity CD (called "Definitive") is now ready. You'll find the planned track listing on the new "Definitive" page. But ya know... a simple CD just didn't seem like enough for the awesome Cosmicity fans that have been so good to me for so many years. So I've decided to include a free DVD called "2 Camcorders and an iMac" with the album.

This DVD is not exactly professional, mind you. It's amateur video shot during various recording sessions and concerts since 1997 (the year I released my first album on an actual record label as opposed to being completely independent.) I edited this thing and even authored the DVD myself. But despite a lack of professional sheen, I believe you will find it simultaneously amusing, annoying, intriguing, dizzying and stupid. It's shabby chic. It's totally fab. It's... Look, it's free, okay?

All the info you could ever want about the CD and the DVD documentary is now posted on the "Definitive" page. Well, not all of it, but tons of it. So take a look!

PS - Don't forget to keep your eye on marknicholas.org for updates and exclusive previews of my post-Cosmicity musical endeavors!

July 19th, 2004 - Dawn of a New Era

The tide has shifted. Cosmicity is no more.

But with every death, there is a birth. Please welcome into existence: marknicholas.org - the official website for the new electronic music I'm writing under my real name, Mark Nicholas! I am planning to move this site to a spiffier URL with a high-tech .com address very soon (got any cool ideas? I'm kickin' around synthmark.com, marknicholasonline, and marknmusic.com) but for now, check it out and enjoy the severe lack of content! Turns out I have to actually write music under this (my) name before anyone will take me seriously. Pffff. Whatever.

And yet, there is Cosmicity news. We are STILL doing our best to get a re-release of "Isabella" into the market as soon as possible. We've had hella trouble getting the artwork back into usable shape. Sorry it's taking so long. In addition to this re-pressing, "Escape Pod For Two" w/ the bonus CD is also nearing the end of its first pressing. If you want to get a copy that includes this free bonus disc (called "Reserve Fuel") full of sweet remixes, BUY ONE NOW! The re-prints will NOT have the free bonus disc in them. When we advertise limited edition, we like back that up by, you know, limiting the edition.

Also, there will be a Cosmicity "greatest hits" collection coming out before this year ends. Expect a collection of all the best Cosmicity songs from 1997 - 2003. Also expect a special edition version of this CD that will include a LONG overdue, totally sweet, bonus item. Sometimes it takes me a couple of years to do what I promise, but I do eventually get around to it. This bonus item will be a promise fulfilled. And that's your only hint. Stay tuned to this website for more news about the re-releases and upcoming best-of CDs. :-) Oh, and stay tuned to marknicholas.org for upcoming samples and tastes of the new "Mark Nicholas" sound!

May 26th, 2004 - The Final Cosmicity Show (and more...)

The upcoming show in the NYC/New Jersey area is shaping up to be the last official Cosmicity performance. If you're in the area, don't miss this exciting moment in Synthpop history so you can later say you were THERE for the final show! The details:

We're performing at a large anime convention called AnimeNext.
All of the details about attending are on their website- http://www.animenext.org.
We perform on Saturday, June 19th.
The venue is the Crowne Plaza Meadowlands in Secaucus, New Jersey (just outside of NYC).
Cosmicity will take the stage around 11:00pm just before the big dance. (Yeah, you read that right... there's a big dance!)

Still need more motivation to attend? You've got it. We'll be taping segments for the upcoming Cosmicity DVD while we're there! And I'm not just talking about some live footage, I'm talking about parts for the Mockumentary... and you can be in it! Think you can deliver a funny blurb about Cosmicity's "downward spiral" without laughing? Come jump in front of our camera and you might just end up on the finished product.

Speaking of the DVD, I'm FINALLY making some real progress on the thing! I realized recently that I've been talking about making this for close to two years now, and it's do or die time. So I'm doing it. I've given myself a June 15th deadline to finish writing out the mockumentary script, and 'til the end of the summer to complete filming. From there, the final product is just an edit and a DVD manufacturing process away. (Meaning, I expect to release this thing before the end of 2004. Possibly even in coordination with...

The Cosmicity "Best-of" CD. There's no title, no track listing (okay, fine, I have a track listing, but posting it here would just be asking for 200 e-mails full of "why aren't you including 'If Murder Was Easy?'" type of questions), and no offiical release date yet, but the plan is real. Expect a fantastic collection of the best Cosmicity songs from the last decade. We might even figure out a way to include that book I compiled last year. (The one with all of the trumped-up articles I wrote for synthpop.net.) A book and a CD? With a DVD release around the same time? I think it's shaping up to be an awesome year-end wrap-up for Cosmicity.

And then it'll be time to put all of my focus on the very first "Mark Nicholas" album. Of course, I'm already developing the new sound... and I'll be writing lyrics for the album all year... but things will kick into high gear when the DVD wraps up.

Cosmicity stuff I've been doing in 2004 that you may not have heard about:

- I did a remix for the latest Real Life (yes, the 80's band that did the song "Send Me An Angel") single called "Oblivion". It's pretty fun and probably worth checking out if you have the means.

- I just completed a song that will be the last original song released under the name Cosmicity. Called "An Unbiased Observation of Human Interaction", it was written specifically for the "Listen to the Future" compilation being released on A Different Drum records in a couple of months. Don't miss this release. It's a book AND a CD, and all of the songs the bands have written are about various short stories contained within the book. Very original, very cool stuff!

- Partnered with my wife (Sara Nicholas aka DJ Ginger Snapp) and my good friend and Cosmicity album-cover-designer (Jamie Latendresse), under the band name MITSU, we've recently completed work on a remix for the band Lamb. We entered it in their current remix contest. If our remix is chosen as 1of the 10 finalists, I'll be posting a link here so you guys can check out the song and hopefully cast your votes for us! :-)

I'll keep the updates coming, and hopefully even have some fun quicktime previews posted from the DVD as various sections are shot and editied! More soon...

March 24th, 2004 - A New Beginning...

So, the big question that I've been getting A LOT in the past couple of months is, "now that you've 'retired' Cosmicity, what are you going to do?" And ya know, it's time I started giving some answers! And I will. Right after this plug.

Cosmicity will be performing at AnimeNext in New Jersey (just outside of New York City) on June 19th! Mark your calendars! AnimeNext is, as the name implies, a convention featuring the best of anime-related stuff, from hard-to-find DVDs to Pocky. It's this reporter's opinion that there's no better venue to see a Cosmicity show than an anime convention! I'll be posting more info as soon as it becomes available. Okay, you've waited long enough. It's time to reveal the scoop. Right after this other bit of news.

More live appearances by Cosmicity to promote "Escape Pod For Two" are shaping up. Folks on the east coast just read about the NYC area show, but shows in Philadelphia and DC are also under negotiation. Folks on the west coast, uh... I'm working on it. For folks in the midwest, it still seems likely that Cosmicity will have a slot at the huge Movement 2004 electronic music festival in Detroit. Here's hoping. And for folks in the south, I was JUST THERE! I can only do so much! Well, just in Texas, anyway. If you want to bring Cosmicity to your city or favorite club, send me the info. I'll do my damn tootinist to make it happen. (Yes, "damn tootinist" is a real phrase. The world just hasn't heard about it yet. I'm here to spread the joy.)

I bet at this point you think I'm just messing with you, and I'm not really going to tell you what's next. Well, you thought wrong. After much pondering (translation: becoming a top-100 player of Star Wars: Clone Wars on Xbox Live) and consulting with spiritual advisors (translation: mass consumption of Mountain Dew and other inspiring corn syrup-based fluids) I've realized that I can't quit making music entirely. I just can't. I'd freak out. So much "adult" reality has come my way in the past 6 months - from turning 30, to getting married, to buying my first house... I've been feeling really, um, standard. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being married, I love my new house, and I've actually gotten somewhat comfortable with the age of 30 (just don't talk to me about 31). I simply don't want to become someone who forgets the very message I was trying to send out in my song "Regenerate". That, no matter what, there is always time to tap into your own creative potential.

Okay, enough analysis. It's still true. "Cosmicity" will really be retired. This year may yet bring a "best-of" type release, but after that point, I intend to set the name Cosmicity aside for a bit and begin new work under a new name. Or rather, my original name: Mark Nicholas.

"So what?" Another good question. By leaving the Cosmicity name behind, I will hopefully be able to shift the direction of my music a bit without any serious backlash from people who've come to expect a certain sound. I realize that some of the qualities in my songwriting can't be changed - as long as I'm writing the music, it will have a certain sound. However, I also don't wish to be bound by my own history. To me, changing the name lifts some restrictions, and that in itself seems reason enough to do it. Sure, it will still be electronic music, but that's an extremely broad category. And I'd like to do some exploring.

Of course, there is one more big reason for the name change. I've always felt like a bit of a poser working under a band name. I'm only one guy. All the music is personal, and it comes from me. It just seems like it's time to put my real name on it.

So, there you have it. I don't have many more details just yet. The details of the upcoming "Mark Nicholas" album are just notions at this point. I'd like to release it sometime next year. I know that much. And I know I'd like it if it really kicked ass. So I'm gonna try to make that happen as well.

I'll be posting again soon to let you guys know about upcoming Cosmicity shows as well as any Mark Nicholas news. I suppose I'll eventually have to change the name of this list, too! Promotion for "Escape Pod For Two" will continue throughout 2004 -- and I when I officially change over to "Mark Nicholas", I will keep my own back-catalog of Cosmicity material and continue to perform it at live "Mark Nicholas" appearances thereafter. I'm sure after the name-change becomes official, shows will continue to be booked as "Mark Nicholas (formerly Cosmicity)" for quite some time!

PS Truth be told, I'm really scared to be doing this. I've been Cosmicity for over a decade, and I barely remember a time before it. And I have no idea if fans of "Cosmicity" will embrace this transition. But sometimes you just have to take some chances and hope something great comes of it. So, I'm taking 'em. And hoping. Really hoping. ;-)

DVD NEWS

As posted in the Sloth Radio forums in response to the question "Will there still be a Cosmicity DVD?":

That is a fine question. Will there still be a Cosmicity DVD? Hmm. What to tell you. Well, the DVD concept lives on. I'll say that. Whether on not it'll have the Cosmicity name on it is another question. I belive the DVD can now be, and should be, instrumental in helping me make the transition to my real name. The main point of the DVD, from conception, was to do a really fun mockumentary. I believe this will be far more effective if it's about the "artist" Mark Nicholas. And there's no reason I can't still include existing Cosmicity elements as bonus items, such as the video for Sedgwick, the commercial for EP42, etc. In fact, it would simply have to include a lot of discussion and reflection about Cosmicity. And when it all comes together, I think it will be the best of the old and the new.

Something like this (and I'm just throwing out ideas off the top of my head here)-->

"2 Camcorders and an iMac: Mark Nicholas Exposed"

Announcer: Documentary film maker Kram Salohcin gets a rare, uncensored glimpse at the Synthpop Underground's reigning king of egomania: Mark Nicholas. He talks candidly about his days in Cosmicity...
Mark: When I released "Pure", I realized that I'd really created something, you know, pure.

Announcer: You'll see him in his off hours as he relaxes with his wife..."
Mark: Do you think people love me a lot... or like, A LOT?
Sara: *watching Crank Yankers* Uh huh, yeah...

Announcer: And you'll even get a first hand glimpse at the recording of his upcoming self-titled album...
*Group of gothiques gathered around a microphone*
Mark: Okay, remember, I need everyone chanting "Darkness is my sanctuary tonight - Drinking blood will give me new life."
Group member: That's f--king brilliant, man.
Mark: Yeah, I know.

So um... To answer your question now, I think it'll be a Mark Nicholas DVD. ;-) This is what happens when I have Mountain Dew at lunch time. I just type WAY too much!

January 27th, 2004 - "The Pod" at last + the "Sedgwick" video!

At last, I'm finally offering a few package deals directly from this website that can be purchased using paypal. If you've been holding out for the much-talked-about special edition of "Escape Pod For Two" called "The Pod" (no longer available- 2005), this package deal is for you. Though not actually packaged in a plastic pod as originally hoped some time ago, this package DOES include all of the goodies, including the double album, the single, a T-shirt, stickers, postcards and even an unlisted surprise bonus. There is also a "Pure" package deal available on this page, so head over to the package deals page right now if you wanna check 'em out! :-)

Also, I've been reminded that I never officially announced the location of the music video for the song "Sedgwick" which was completed at the end of 2003. I'm still hoping to release a DVD later this year that will include this video in full quality, but if you just can't wait, there's a web version of the video located at: http://www.draxijn.com/sedgwick/.

Finally, many people have asked me if the commercial I made to promote "Escape Pod For Two" is still online. It sure is! And it's here to stay. You'll always be able to view it from HERE. (And, yes, it will totally be on that DVD I was just talking about.)

Tons more news to come very soon, including some upcoming live appearance dates and locations!

January 9th, 2004 - Bragging, Booking, Street Teams, and more...

"Escape Pod For Two" is now a best-seller! Yep, in just its first month of release, "EP42" somehow found its way on to A Different Drum's Top-10 best seller list for all of 2003! It is also Cosmicity's fastest selling album ever - selling out more than half its pressing in that very same 1 month period (December 2003). Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has thrown their support behind this album and fueled this rapid success. It means so much to me! And I KNOW it's thanks to you -- A Different Drum hasn't even had time to send out promo or DJ copies yet. Those record sales are on word of mouth alone!

To keep the momentum going, I'm looking to book some live dates to support the new album wherever possible. Got a city you think I should play in? Send me some info on a local club that would host a kindly synthpop band with an obsession with outer space, and I'll try to book a show there! It's easy! Just drop me an e-mail me at info@cosmicity.com . The best time for me to do shows will be after April 15th of this year, but I will try to do any show that is offered to me.

I'm also interested in starting up some street teams. I know that phrase "street team" sounds like something hugely time-consuming, but it's truly not. I'm simply looking for anyone who'd like to spread the word about Cosmicity by dropping off some postcards, stickers, (posters?) and even some promotional CDs wherever it makes sense to do so. Do you frequent a synth-friendly club or record store that would let you give away free Cosmicity stuff? If so, your help would be appreciated, and perhaps more importantly, rewarded. All street-team members will find themselves with cool freestuff like the aforementioned cards and stickers, as well as free albums and T-shirts! (Freestuff limited to existing supply!) Again, drop me an e-mail if you think you might like to help.

Ummm... what else? Oh, I'm about to put up - at long last - an order page for some special packages including the much talked about "The Pod" package. I should have that up in the next week or so, and the prices are gonna be awesome, so keep your eyes open.

Is there yet another item of news? Just some little detaily things, then it's back to work on my super secret project. What? Who said that?

If you're looking for Cosmicity mp3s because mp3.com went out of commission in December, look no further than the brand new LISTEN page right here on this very website. Full mp3s of several Cosmicity songs are now available for you to download and enjoy.

If you're looking for new Synthpop discussion forums because electrogarden.com went out of commission, look no further than synthpop.net. Their new forums are very much like the old electrogarden ones, only with a lot more character and a lot less censorship. I like it there. Some of you might even recall that I used to write a weekly column for that website. There's even talk of that starting back up again. Hmmm.

If you're looking for your inner child, I must ask, what will you do if you find him or her? What if your inner child is still in diapers? That could be a mess. Worse yet, what if your inner child is in that horrible pre-teen phase and it starts making you buy lots of Linkin Park albums and insisting the cast of The O.C. are more than just hot... their REALLLLLY good actors. Maybe you ought to re-think this whole search and just eat some Cheetos(tm) and drink an Orange Crush(tm) instead. Kids like orange stuff, right? As long as the inner child is well-fed, there's really no need to actually FIND them right? Hey, I'm just trying to help. ;-)

Last, but not least, if you're just itching to say something nice about the new "Escape Pod For Two" album, but you don't know where to say it (or a post on a yahoogroup or synthpop.net forum just isn't enough for ya), it really helps out if you post your thoughts on amazon.com. It's really easy to look up "Escape Pod For Two" on there, and posting a review is as easy as clicking the "review this album" button. :-)

November 28th, 2003 - NEW ALBUM released! Watch the COMMERCIAL!

"Escape Pod For Two" is now available! Brand-new double CD from Cosmicity! I could go on about this for a really long time, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Or, in this case, a 3-minute commercial is just a heck of a lot more fun than words.

http://www.cosmicity.com/EP42SpoofAd.html

If I HAD written a wordy blurb about this album, I probably would have said stuff like, "This is Cosmicityıs best release ever!" and "Even non-synthpop fans will dig this!" or maybe I would have used the always popular, "This is not another Depeche Mode clone band!" line. But instead, I cordially request that you watch this brief commercial.

After viewing, if youıd like to order the new double-album online at http://www.adifferentdrum.com that would be just fantastic! You can also order by calling 1-888-88SYNTH or even place an order from the online superstore http://www.amazon.com. Synth on!!!

November 3rd, 2003 - Upcoming Live Shows

Thursday, November 6th: Cosmicity will be performing with Freezepop and Bunnyhug at the Detroit Art Space. (101 East Baltimore in Detroit, MI).

September 26th, 2003 - It's A Secret

There may or may not be a preview mp3 (with short portions of 5 different tracks) from the upcoming "Escape Pod For Two" album posted at:

http://www.mp3.com/cosmicity

That is all. :-)

September 17th, 2003 - The "In-Flight" Single Is Now Available

So, It's official. The "In-Flight" CD single is now available for purchase at A Different Drum and will also be available at local synthpop retailers, amazon.com and similar online outlets any day now. The single features the song "In-Flight" with awesome remixes by ICON OF COIL and DELOBBO, as well as another album track "Abort" with remixes by DJ RAM and DJ GINGER SNAPP. This is the only taste of the upcoming album that will be available until November when "Escape Pod For Two" actually hits the streets, so get it while ya can. :-)

August 20th, 2003 - Back on track... sorta...

So, after several unexpected delays, the CD single for the new song "In-Flight" is done, mastered and at the manufacturer. I think the single came out great, and the remixes by Icon of Coil, DJ Ram, Delobbo, and DJ Ginger Snapp are absolutely outstanding. If I have a single complaint it's that the remixes are SO good that they might distract people from listening to the original songs! But I hereby cordially request that you listen to all of the tracks, 'cause I think they're all great.

That being said, the album is a little behind. But what else is new, right? I continue to work dilligently, but my day-job and my no-compromises recording policy have been slowing down my progress. Though I only have 2 or 3 songs left to finish, my time in the next month or so is very limited, so I'll be scrambling just to get through those... and then there's disc 2 of that album! I'm excited about disc 2. I've even finally settled on a name for it. It'll be called "Reserve Fuel". But it will take some time to get all of the remixes finished, not to mention I'm slated to finish a couple of B-sides and remixes for that disc as well. I STILL don't want this to drag beyond my wedding (October 18th) but if it's necessary for premium quality, I will do what I have to do. However, my intention to finish this album before that date remains firm. I'm workin' hard. Oh, FYI, the list of remixers for disc 2 is:

CONFIRMED:
Assemblage 23 remixing "Oxygenius"
Volker from T.O.Y. remixing "Tinnitus"
B! Machine remixing "Regenerate"
System 22 remixing "Abort"
Syrian remixing "Sedgwick" (This one is already done. It's great.)
Raindancer remixing "Departure"
DJ Introvert remixing "In-Flight"
DJ Ginger Snapp remixing "Escape Pod For Two"
Steve Sholtes remixing "The Dreamer" b-side

B-SIDES FROM COSMICITY (me!)
"The Dreamer (Club Mix)"
"This Is Your Crappy Christmas Present"

2 additional b-sides (I hope!)

OTHER:
"Vast (Instrumental Mix)"
"Escape Pod For Two (Instrumental Mix)"

More news to come soon! The single will be released in a couple of weeks, so I'll certainly post an announcement here at that time!

July 16th, 2003 - "In-Flight" postponed... how ironic! + a Razormaid remix!

I hate posting here with less-than-awesome news, but alas, I must. Due to unforeseeable circumstances, one of the remixes for the upcoming single has been delayed. As a result, the single will not go to the manufacturer until the first week of August. The new projected release date for the "In-Flight" single is August 26th. Everything else is done, so I assure you, it's coming! On the upside, the web page for the single is now posted, so why not check out the track listing and the cover art? You can see it here ---> cosmicity.com/in-flight.html .

Do you ever think about a favorite food that is no longer available or a TV show you loved that got cancelled and just get really really PISSED? Happens to me all the time. For example, I used to love Micro Magic Cheeseburgers, but they no longer make them and I'm flaming mad about it. Now I just have to skip breakfast 'cause there is no suitable replacement. (And you think I'm kidding.) Another example: I worshipped the TV show News Radio. RIP Phil Hartman. Damn I loved that show. They coined the term "gazizza" for cryin' out loud. ANYWAY! There is one thing from my past that I thought had disappeared that is actually still alive and kicking! Anyone remember those underground remixes of Depeche Mode and Erasure songs by a guy named Razormaid? Well, he's still at it, and... get this... he's into underground Electro and Synth music now. Yep. You know what I'm getting at. He has actually done one of his cool underground mixes of the Cosmicity song "Darkness". It consists of different chunks of the remixes found on the "Darkness" CD single (mainly the remixes by Steve Sholtes), and ya know, I really like how he spliced them together! You can't buy his remix 'cause he does this stuff exclusively for DJ use, but you can give it (and all the other cool songs he hacked up) a listen at: http://www.razormaid.com/html/razormaid/razormaid.htm .

Finally, I thought I'd just mention that the album is coming along well. Though it's been very tricky to stay on schedule, I'm doing relatively well. I still intend to get the album wrapped up as early as possible this September. Oh, and in case you're curious, so far the bands B! Machine, System 22, Syrian, and Raindancer have all signed-on to do remixes for the bonus disc, with several more in the works (we're talking to Volker from T.O.Y. and Assemblage 23 among others). And uh... yeah, I've gotta get back to recording or this album won't come out 'til 2004! (As it stands currently, it's very much expected to hit the streets in October.

June 24th, 2003 - New Cosmicity Released, Single Info, and Survey Results!

FIRST TASTE OF THE NEW ALBUM

One of Cosmicity's brand new songs has snuck out to the public many months before the new album is actually due for release! You can get it on the new "Synthpop Club Anthems II" compilation available from A Different Drum for only $8.00! Not only does this compilation feature an exclusive Club Mix of the Cosmicity song "Tinnitus" (which, in all honesty, is quite similar to the album version 'cause the album version was already quite club-friendly), but it's packed with the best dance material from the Electro/pop underground at large! Don't delay... head to A Different Drum or Amazon to get your copy right now.

THE FIRST SINGLE

The first single to support the upcoming "Escape Pod For Two" album is finally underway. It will feature the song "In-Flight", with remixes by ICON OF COIL, DELOBBO, and COSMICITY, as well as an addtional album track called "Abort" with remixes by DJ RAM and DJ GINGER SNAPP. The projected release date for this single is August 4th. It'd be sooner, but remember, Icon of Coil is in Norway and DJ Ram is in Russia. Shipping CDs back and forth takes a while!

SURVEY RESULTS

Below are the most significant results from the survey. As a result of this survey, several important decisions were made:

QUESTION #1 Cosmicity will release a new album in a few months. The album may include a second bonus CD. If it is a 2CD release, it will cost at least $2 or $3 more than a typical album. Are you:

c) I'll get the new Cosmicity album no matter what. -- 51%
a) more likely to get the album? -- 43%

QUESTION #2 Let's assume it's gonna be 2CDs. The second disc will have about 12-14 songs that are remixes and b-sides. What would you expect to pay for these 2CDs? Be honest.

b, c, d) $16.99-18.99 -- 92%

QUESTION #3 If you could choose only one style for the remixes on this bonus CD, which style would you choose?

d) Synthpop -- 53%
a) Futurepop -- 33%

QUESTION #4 Let's get specific. Below are some of the people who could possibly do a remix. (No, I haven't contacted most of them yet, and yes, some are probably too expensive.) Who would make a Cosmicity remix you'd want to hear? (Please list ALL that apply.)

(TOP 5 RESPONSES)
m) Assemblage 23 -- 57%
i) Icon of Coil -- 56%
h) Volker from T.O.Y. -- 51%

f) B! Machine -- 49%
k) System 22 -- 43%

QUESTION #5 We've always planned on releasing a special edition of this album called "The Pod". It will include the album, bonus CD, a T-shirt, stickers, postcards and be contained in some kind of cool container. Would you be less likely to buy this (for around $30), knowing you can get the 2CDs by themselves (for around $18)?

a) I'd buy "The Pod" -- 65%
b) I'd get the double CD -- 25%

June 2nd, 2003 - A bit of actual news...

- The new Cosmicity album ("Escape Pod For Two") is still pretty much on-schedule. It should be complete by Labor Day, which translates to an official release date late in September. For those of you keeping track, I'm now done with "Sedgwick", "In-Flight", "Regenerate", "Drops and Splotches", and "Tinnitus". The song "Abort" should be done next week.

- The DVD release date has been pushed back and will no longer coincide with the release of the album. In order to keep the album on-schedule, the DVD has to be held off for a few months.

- The first single should be available during the last week in July. Remixers will be chosen and start "doing their thing" with the single next week... right after we decide which song the single will be for!

- An MP3 preview of the music from "Escape Pod For Two" will be available at around the same time as the single is released (late July). You can read more about "Escape Pod For Two" by visiting the web page at: http://www.cosmicity.com/ep42.html Synth on!

May 21st, 2003 - GET "ELECTRICITY II" NOW!

This is a blatant plug for the new "Electricity II" Electropop sampler CD. Not only does it have a new Cosmicity song on it (called "The Dreamer"), it has a new mix of the Turd Ferguson classic "Alan Cumming". (Turd Ferguson is a side project that my fiancee and I created to poke fun of Electroclash, specifically Miss Kitten. It also pokes fun of Alan Cumming, the actor who plays Nightcrawler in X-men II in addition to his other high-profile roles in Spice World, Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, Josie and the Pussycats... and all kinds of other incredible films!) Why haven't you already purchased this compilation? You need more motivation? Okay, it has new songs by Heaven 17, Soviet, Freezepop, White Town and a ton of other awesome bands on it. Now I KNOW you're gonna get it. Here's a LINK TO AMAZON TO BUY IT! (If you buy it quickly, it even comes with a free bonus CD!

May 2nd, 2003 - Okay, Here's The Situation

"My parents went away on a week's vacation and they left the keys to the brand new Porche. Would they mind? Mmm, well, of course not!" Okay, if ya didn't catch that quote, you're probably under the age of 19. :-) (And that's alright. I'm not PROUD that I know the lyrics to DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince's signature song.) Okay, okay... on to the point of this update.

I got sent out of town for a couple of weeks by the good folks at My Day Job, Inc, so I'm a little behind on my schedule for "Escape Pod For Two". Not to worry, though. It wasn't a MAJOR setback. Before I left for my trip I was able to put the finishing touches on "Drops and Splotches". So, as of this exact moment in time, I have completed 4 the songs: "In-Flight", "Tinnitus", "Regenerate" and "Drops and Splotches". That's 1/3 of the album complete! Could be a lot worse. And, here's a bonus... A club mix of the new song "Tinnitus" will appear on the next "Synthpop Club Anthems" compilation from A Different Drum. So, you'll finally get to sample the new album. I'm excited that one of my new tracks will finally be out there for people to hear.

Actually, while I was in Dallas for work, my good friend DJ Introvert took me to thus awesome club night called The Church where DJ Virus gave "In-Flight" and "Tinnitus" their very first club play. They sounded good in the club... it was very cool of him to play them without even hearing them first. So, big thanks to Introvert and Virus. You guys are way cool.

Next on my to-do list, right at the top, are the songs "Sedgwick" and "Abort". I'm working on both of these tracks very passionately now. "Abort" is under consideration to be the first single (as is "Tinnitus"), so it's important that I get it done soon so I can have my panel of experts cast informed votes on which song should be the "star." After those two songs are done I'll be at the half-way mark and feeling much better about my ability to finish the entire album by the end of August.

The DVD project is still lurking in the background, and as I finish songs, I'm trying to get them to the various folks involved. My gut now tells me that the DVD won't be ready anywhere near August, though. I bet it'll be more like the beginning of 2004. We'll have to see how that goes. I'm committed to doing the DVD, don't get me wrong, but I don't want it to be half-assed. So, if it's not up-to-par by August, I'll keep working on it until it is.

That's it for the moment. I've gotta get back to recording this music. Focus: a crappy car, but THE word for me to remember today.

March 20th, 2003 - Awfully Ambitious, Don't Ya Think?

If I told you that I was now planning on releasing a DVD and feature-packed special edition of "Escape Pod For Two" in addition to the album itself, would you believe me? Hell, I barely believe me. But that's what I'm planning. How these things multiply, I may never know.

But the good news is, there's a lot of Cosmicity to look forward to! I believe I've mentioned "The Pod" before. It will be a specially-packaged limited-edition of "Escape Pod For Two" that will likely include:

THE POD
"Escape Pod For Two"
"Drops And Splotches" Bonus album (b-sides, remixes and more)
"Pez and Inspiration" Cosmicity DVD (see below for details)
Cosmicity Stickers
Cosmicity Wearable (not decided yet... hat, boxer shorts, fuzzy slippers, who knows?!)

Then there's the DVD. This was originally conceived as a simple DVD-R to be included with "The Pod". In recent weeks, it has started to look like its own entity. If things go according to plan, this will end up being a professionally released stand-alone DVD (not a home-burned DVD) as-well-as a part of "The Pod". The working title is "Pez and Inspiration" (thanks, Jason).

PEZ AND INSPIRATION - THE COSMICITY DVD
At least 7 music videos for the songs:
- Technology (a deeply textured, animated world... with inuendo all over the place!) by RICH BOBO
- I Want A Dog (cut by the editor of the #1 VH-1 video for Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow. Cool, eh?) by CHRIS CHENOWYTH
- I Want You (Cosmicity in an insane asylum. Seriously!) by ADAM PILLON
- Abort (featuring "the astronauts" as seen on the "EP42" page) by MARK NICHOLAS and SARA KRIST
- In-Flight (Cosmicity's "look" is HIP HOP? Since when?) by ADAM PILLON
- Tinnitus (Oh God... I dance in this one.) by JASON QUITT
- Sedgwick (The very clever flash-animated story of the Escape Pod journey as it begins...)
by BRETT HENDRICKS
- Regenerate (3D animation video proposed, still under consideration.) TBD

also featuring...
Pez and Inspiration: The Making of "Escape Pod For Two" docu/mockumentary
In-depth interview with Mark Nicholas (or Mark Landstander... whoever shows up) by Cosmicity art director Jamie Latendresse.
Bonus: Bootleg Live Footage of Cosmicity in Detroit, July 2002 and Cosmicity in SLC opening for Alphaville in July 1999!

PS - I'm still recruiting for the DVD project. If you'd like to contribute to a Cosmicity video, please contact me.

Can I POSSIBLY get this all done by August as originally planned? I still intend to. I'm getting married in October, so I will most certainly need to have this wrapped up before then so I am not distracted! Not to mention, I'll need a few of these new songs for the DJ...

However, thanks to my fiancee as well as my director/editor friends, I will have a lot of help with this DVD. And thanks to all of my remixer/DJ friends, I will also have a lot of help with the bonus CD "Drops and Sploches". Oh, and thanks to my friend Jamie Latendresse, I will have lots of help making stickers and Cosmicity Wearable stuff. So, as you can see, if I stay focused on the music, there are a lot of people poised to make sure the rest falls into place. Thank Heaven for good friends.

Did I mention that I'm also releasing a new Cosmicity CD single in a few months? AH!

February 12th, 2003 - Fishing For Votes, Pushing For Progress

So, here I am. It's February 12th and I'm behind on the new Cosmicity album - as usual. If I wasn't behind on my album, it just wouldn't seem right, would it? The sun would rise in the west, Burger King fries would taste better than McDonald's, and Macs would outsell PCs. In short: Mass hysteria. The good news is, I've done well with the lyrics and I'm nearly done shaping the entire story for this crazy concept album. Keep your eyes on the EP42 page to see the progress first hand. Oh, yeah, and the picture on that page is NOT the album cover. Don't worry. It's just the result of a caffeine induced picture-taking spree.

And now you've reached the part of the "news" page where I ask for a few nominations. The American Synthpop Awards are here again, and though I did not release an album in 2002, I did do some music I'm proud of. In particular, I did a remix for a Red Flag song called "Nevermind HTTP - Cosmicity Remix" that I'd love to see nominated. (Wanna hear it? Pick up the "Who Are The Skulls" Red Flag remix collection.) So, if you too have enjoyed this remix, why not go to the NOMINATIONS page (www.lexiconmagazine.com/asa2002.html) and cast a vote for it! Heck, why not cast votes for all of your favorite American Synthpop from 2002? It's fun!

That's all for now. Stay tuned... I'm bound to post an mp3 in the next month or two. And then, who knows... maybe I'll even release an early single. Perhaps that's just crazy talk, but then again, perhaps a streak of incredible productivity is right in front of me. I'm hoping for the productivity thing. I hate being behind on a deadline... even if being ahead of schedule would mean that McDonald's Fries would become inferior to those of underdog BK!

January 7th, 2003 - New Interview

There's a brand new interview with Cosmicity at: vampirefreaks.com . Does this mean I've gone Goth? Maybe. Have you seen me lately? Perhaps I'm all spooky now... (Okay, fine. I'm not. But it could happen!)

January 2nd, 2003 - And So Begins My Panic...

It's 2003 and now the time has come for me to officially freak-out about the deadline for "Escape Pod For Two". With just 5 months to finish the next album, I... I... can we talk about something else? Hehe. No, seriously, the album is coming along quite nicely. Though I keep going back and retooling the structure of various songs, the results have been well worth any "lost" time. By the end of this month, the noodling must halt and recording will begin. That means that by late February, there's likely to be a great-sounding preview mp3 available for download. I make no promises, but that's how things look as of this moment.

More news as it rolls in. Happy New Year, everyone!

December 4th, 2002 - Have Faith

Forgive me, reader, for I have been busy. It's been four months since my last confession.

- I had impure thoughts about music 231 times.
- I took the Lord's name in vain 724 times.  (Synthesizers can be very frustrating!)
- I created a web page for people to monitor my progress on the album, scheduled for release no later than August of 2003.  http://www.cosmicity.com/ep42.html
- I put my DVD and book on hold to ensure the highest standard of quality for this upcoming album.
- I committed the sin of sloth over Thanksgiving.  A lot.
- I purchased Bride and Groom Pez dispensers for use as cake-toppers at my wedding next October.  Wait, is that a sin?  Well, it probably should be.  I need to repent.

Say five "Hail Electricity"s, four "Our Computer"s, and for God's sake, give us a break with the Pez!

And uh... that's all the real news I have.  In my next update I'll be talking a bit more about a compilation called "Electricity II" which will feature both an exclusive Cosmicity track called "The Dreamer" as well as a song by Turd Furgeson (a side project with my bride-to-be) called "Alan Cumming".

Our Computer,
who aren't in heaven
Annie be thy name.
Thy hard drive frags
Thy processor lags
On my desk as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily crash
and forgive us our lack-of-backups
as we forgive those who don't use Macintosh
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from Bill Gates.
Amen.

November 6th, 2002 - I'm Gettin' There...

So I promised a preliminary track list, did I? Well, as it turns out, I'm a liar. Okay, that's not news. But the thing is, I'm just not ready! I do have many songs fleshed-out and lookin' good, but not enough to be able to realistically post even a semi-complete list of songs. All in time, though, I promise. Eh. What good are my promises? Okay, I swear on all that is synthesized. Hopefully you'll believe me now.

In an effort to avoid being a complete ass, I will share a couple little news nuggets. First of all, I will be finishing up two Cosmicity songs by the end of the year for two different compilations. One will be an odd house/synthpop hybrid of a song (an experiment of sorts) to be included on the "Electricity II" compilation. That will be released by Ninthwave early in 2003. The other will be a track from the forthcoming "Escape Pod For Two" album called "Regenerate". It will *hopefully* be included on a planned compilation on A Different Drum records that will be a tribute to anime. Though "Regenerate" is not specifically a song about anime, it was inspired by many latenight viewings of "Neon Genesis Evangelion".

Also, there are plans in the pipeline for a very special edition release of the "Escape Pod For Two" album next year. It's just talk at this point, but the plans would be for a version called "The Pod". This would essentially be a plastic "pod" stuffed with a copy of the album, a limited-edition bonus CD full of remixes and B-sides, a DVD single with a video or two on it, plus a T-shirt. We'll be working on this for a while, so the "reality" of this release won't really be clear until spring of 2003. But I'll keep you informed as things develop.

Finally, the song that DJ Ginger Snapp and I did under the name Turd Ferguson is going to be released on the "Electricity II" compilation next year. (Yep, that means I'll have TWO songs on there. Hehe.) We did this song as a spoof of the Electroclash song "Frank Sinatra" by Miss Kitten and The Hacker. It's pretty crazy that it's actually getting published, 'cause we did it in about 3 hours just for kicks! But we're glad. Hell, it might even prompt us to spoof more stuff under the Turd Ferguson name. Watch out!

October 9th, 2002 - Cosmicity on "Haunted" + EP42 Progress

So if you watch "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", you've probably seen that new show "Haunted". Well, if ya have, you probably heard Cosmicity's song "Your Beautiful Lie (Red Sweater Mix)" on Episode 2, which aired Tuesday, October 1st. It was playing during the club scenes. Cool stuff, eh? Sorry I didn't announce it in advance. Honestly, I didn't know it would be on there!

I've made quite a bit of progress on the forthcoming "Escape Pod For Two" album. Soon I will be posting a preliminary track list, and even some lyrics for new songs! It really IS going to be a concept album; a true journey that begins on earth, and ends on another world. There should be a TON of info here in the next month or two, so check back!

(NOTE: I've added a copy of the synthpop community's reaction to my press release on August 30th. It's culled from Electrogarden.com and you can view it by clicking here---> DISCUSSION.)

September 15th, 2002 - GET COSMICITY MERCHANDISE!

So, you say you can't get any cool merchandise from your favorite Synthpop bands, eh? Well, strike Cosmicity off of that complaint list! Now you can get hats, mugs, clocks, coasters... the list goes on and on! For a good time, click these links:

Also, for a very limited time there is a free remix of a Bjork track (by DJ Ginger Snapp with Cosmicity) posted at this link:

August 30th, 2002 - "Escape Pod For Two"

The ascent has begun. The new album is officially underway. Lyrics are being written. Song ideas are being sketched. New synths are being purchased. Computers are being upgraded. And the title has been decided. As indicated by the subject line, it will be called "Escape Pod for Two". I am officially over-the-top psyched about this project. It's clear that everything else in my plan book will have to take a back seat for a while. No more live appearances. No more side-projects. No more remixes. Just this album from now until completion. It's going to be great. I can tell already. In fact, I'd like it to become the definitive Cosmicity release because, after it's done, I'm calling it quits.

What? Cosmicity no more? Yes, It's true. I really am. "Why?" you ask. Well, I made a promise to myself a long time ago that if, by the time I turned 30, I wasn't where I wanted to be with Cosmicity, I'd shift my creative focus to writing. Well, I turn 30 next August (1 year from now), right about the time "Escape Pod For Two" should be ready. So, with this next release, I will gracefully exit stage left.

Is this forever? It's hard to say. I'm gonna wait and see. But I'm definitely focusing on writing exclusively, come next August. I love to write (particularly dialogue... movie and TV scripts...), and if I can reach more people through that creative outlet, I can't resist. I'll give that my best shot and see what happens. Who knows? Maybe after six months I'll miss composing music so much that I can't stand it. But it will be time to find out.

Until this time, I'm putting everything I have into this album. If it's gonna be my last, it's damn well gonna be my best. There's no way I'm walking away without the ability to remind myself that "I did my best." So, expect the best Cosmicity you've ever heard on "Escape Pod For Two". I'm going to deliver.
